John Edwin Lawson of Knoxville passed away February 5, 2012. Member of 1st Church Of Christ, Scientist. He loved Norris Lake, the Mountains and watching his grandchildren play ball. Survivors, beloved wife of 45 years, Doris Lawson, children, Greg and wife, Jill Lawson, Brian Lawson, David Lawson and Holly and husband, Shane Strickland, grandchildren, Caity Lawson, Taylor and Baylor Lawson, Nathaniel and Nicolas Lawson, Bradley, Keely and Trent Strickland, brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Ann Lawson, several nieces and nephews. Memorial service 7 pm Tuesday Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to charity of choice. Family will receive friends 5 to 7 pm Tuesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. Sleep in Heavenly Peace.

Raymand Earl Whitson
|
Raymand Earl Whitson, age 89, of Knoxville, passed away February 4, 2012. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran who served his country in the south Pacific in World War II. He was retired from Oak Ridge National Labs. Ray was a beloved husband and father. His life’s passion was his pursuit of science and invention. He will be remembered for his many inventions and prototypes as well as his creative genius in nuclear energy. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Minnie Lee Turner. Survived by his current wife, Theda. He leaves behind his six children: Connie Whitson, Dennis Whitson, Brenda Watkins, Diane Huckett, Steve Whitson and Stephanie Stalvey. His legacy includes 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Tennova Hospice for their loving care. Friends will be welcomed from 7-8 PM Monday, February 6th for visitation at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel. An informal service will follow where family members will be sharing memories of his life.

Michael Parton, age 26 of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012. He attended Halls Middle School and Halls High School. He played baseball, football, track and boxing. Michael was a registered EMT and his ambition was to be a firefighter. He was a loving husband, father and son. Preceded in death by brother, Jimmy and sister, Ginger. Survived by wife, Candice Beda Parton; daughter, Emily Parton; parents, Jimmy and Virginia Parton; brothers, Wayne, Frankie and Robert Parton; grandmothers, Viney Johnson and Virginia Miles; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm Sunday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. Memorial service will follow at 8:00 pm with Rev. Tommy Gass officiating.

Survived by daughters, Tabitha and Maggie; 3 grandsons; 1 great-grandson; sisters, Carolyn Jones, Shirley Bayless, Betty Workman; brother, Edgar (Eddie) Warwick, Jr. Funeral service 8:00 pm Saturday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Dotson officiating. Family and friends will meet 2:15 pm Sunday at the funeral home and proceed to Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery for 3:00 pm interment. Hazel “Nanny” Bean

Hazel “Nanny” Bean, age 99, of Knoxville, went home to be with the Lord, January 31, 2012. She was a member of Son Light Baptist Church. She owned and operated a day care for many years and handed out samples for Auntie Anne’s Pretzels until she retired at the age of 94. Preceded in death by husband, Ralph Bean, Sr. Survived by son, Ralph “Sonny” Bean, Jr., daughter, Dorothy “Dot” Knott, granddaughters, Virginia, Debbie, Tracy, Lisa, Lori and April, 10 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Son Light Baptist Church or Rocky Hill Baptist Church. Family and friends will meet, 1:45 p.m., Saturday, Highland South Cemetery for a graveside service at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Eddie Myers officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m., Friday, Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City. As Nanny always said, “I’ll see you when the roses bloom.”

D. C. Wilson (Buck) - 88, of Powell, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Physicians Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Towering Oaks Baptist Church in Greeneville and currently attended Glenwood Baptist Church in Powell. He was a World War ll veteran, and a retiree of the George C. Moore Co.
He was born February 5, 1923 a son of the late Hobart and Edith Lowe Wilson.
Affectionately known as 'Papa' to his family, he loved fishing, spending time at his cabin on the lake, and UT football.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Wilson, daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Al Patton, three grandchildren: Mike Patton, Trenna Harrison and husband Mike, Mark Patton and wife, Beth; four great grandchildren: Sydney Tindell, Morgan Harrison, Hunter Patton, and Blake Patton. He is also survived by two sisters and two brothers-in-law: Charlene and Ramsey Cutshall, Linda Summey, and Rankin Long, all of Greeneville; brother and sister-in-law Hobart and Mary Wilson of Morristown, several nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by four sisters: Mildred Shipley, Hilda Freshour, Lorraine Noland, and Jenny Long; and three brothers: Don Wilson, Godfrey "Buddy" Wilson, and Roger Wilson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Open Arms Care Foundation, 7417 Kingston Pike, Suite 300, Knoxville, TN 37919. Friends and family will gather 1:45 pm Friday, February 3 at Mount Hebron Cemetery, Greeneville, TN for a 2:00 pm graveside and interment service. Nancy J. Tweed Dunlap, age 64, went to be with Jesus on January 30, 2012. Member of the Gospel Church. Preceded in death by mother, Bessie Browning Tweed, father Van Tweed and brothers Ray & Gary. She will be sadly missed by her family and a host of friends. Survived by husband, Paul Dunlap. Children: Jamie, Paul Jr., Jacob and Logan. 5 grandchildren. Son-in-law, DeWayne. Daughter-in-law, Ashley. Brothers, Charles and Lester Sellers. Sister, Patsy Vaughn. A devoted brother-in-law, Bubby and several other special brothers & sisters-in-law. Barbara Joyce McManus, age 65 of Knoxville, passed away January 29, 2012. Barbara was a loving and devoted grandmother. She dearly loved her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them, telling them stories, sharing her faith, and teaching them life lessons. Barbara was saved at age 17 at the Hensley’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Sparta, TN. Preceded in death by parents, Toy R. and Rachel Winnett Young and special sister-in-law, Patricia Strohm. Survived by husband of 26 years, David L. McManus; beloved daughter, Jennifer Lundy of Knoxville; step-son, Leslie McManus of Knoxville; special grandchildren, Joey Beeler and Ashlynn McManus of Knoxville; sisters, Louise Johnson of Sparta; Maxine Alexander and husband, Mike Alexander of New Market; brothers, L. D. Young and Michael Young of Sparta; brother-in-law, Paul McManus and wife, Anna McManus of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Kathy Sharp and husband, Charlie Sharp of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Jean McManus of Knoxville; special friend, Babette Beeler; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Charles Lee Perkey was born February 24, 1939 and passed away January 26, 2012 in Ft. Worth, Texas. He was an active member of Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church until he moved to Texas. He was a Mason and Shriner and retired from the Post Office. Survivors, brother and sister-in-law, Jack and June Perkey, nephews, Bill Perkey and Jim Perkey, niece, Vickie Perkey, great nephews, Taylor, Mason, Justin and Jacob, 1 aunt, 3 uncles and several cousins. Service 11 am Wednesday at Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church, Rev. Johnny Gray officiating with interment service to follow at Edgewood Cemetery.
